Food Guide in Amsterdam

If you are planning a visit in Amsterdam, you should take some time to also check few places were you can have good food. Check out my Food Guide in Amsterdam and let me know if you will try or already tried some of the places I’ve recommended .

Let’s get into it and i hope you are not hungry at the moment you read my article.

Nieuwmarkt local food market

Nieuwmarkt  it’s a small market in the heart of Amsterdam, opened from Monday to Friday, with vegetables, fruits, flowers and  cheese. But on Saturdays there is an organic food market and on Sundays is the antique market.

We wend there on a Saturday and tried few of the delicious Dutch delicacies. Among the dishes we tried was the famous Stroopwafel, which is a very thin , round cookie that is made from two layers of sweet baked dough and held together by syrup filling. We also tried the Dutch Sandwich, a small sandwich with ham and greenery, we liked it very much!

You should definitely try the Dutch Sandwich and Stroopwafel in Amsterdam, both were delicious!

San Thomas MG steakhouse

Looking for a steakhouse in Amsterdam ? San Thomas MG is the answer, we’ve had a delicious steak here.

The place looks nice, the staff is very friendly and the food was delicious.

We choose to try a medium rare steak with some grilled vegetables as a side dish. The meat was perfectly done and very tasty, also the vegetables were delicious!! If you are a steak lover, you should try San Thomas MG in Amsterdam!

DEYACOS

This place might seem to be a tourist trap, due to it’s location, but it’s not and we had a delicios lunch at DEYACOS.

We walked through and saw that it was almost full of people, so we ended up eating here. We ordered pasta and pizza, both were delicious. DEYACOS is a good place to eat tasty pizza and pasta in Amsterdam.

We were a bit disappointed by the dessert. We tried the tiramisu, but it was not close to the tiramisu we are used to. Even if we didn’t liked the dessert, i still recommend DEYACOS for pizza and pasta.

Holland Venetie in Giethoorn

If you come to Giethoorn, Holland Venetie is a good choice to have lunch. Is close to the bus station and is has a nice terrace with view over the canal.

We’ve ordered mushroom soup, garlic bread and a portion of ribs. The mushroom soup was delicious, we really loved it. Garlic bread is to die for, so if you arrive at Holland Venetie, you must try the garlic bread! Instead, the ribs were not as tasty as we expected, there were dry.

Overall, i still recommend Holland Venetie in Giethoorn, it’s a nice place with a beautiful terrace where you can enjoy your lunch.

De Haven Van Texel

We’ve been here 3 times during our visit in Amsterdam. This is a very nice location, the terrace has an amazing view  over the main canal of Amsterdam.

You can find here drinks and also some food. It so nice to enjoy a drink here, on a sunny day. There are a lot coffee shops with canal views but De Haven van Texel is kind of special and the atmosphere here is very nice.

From the food menu we tried the loaded fries, they were delicious. Unfortunately, i don’t have any pictured as my phone died.
