5. Visit the famous Bran Castle
Don’t miss the famous castle associated with the legend of Dracula, which is located just at a short drive from Brasov.
The castle, like many other castles, it was at first a military fortification. In the early 20th century, the Queen Marie of Romania inherited the castle and transformed it into a summer residence adding it’s personal touch to it.
Bran Castle gained international fame when it was associated with the fictional character Dracula. The connection between the castle and the vampire character is purely fictional, but it has helped make Bran Castle one of Romania’s most popular tourist destinations.
P.S.: don’t forget to have the traditional dish – bean soup in bread- at one of the restaurants near the castle.
You can visit the inside of the castle by only a fee, it will cost you around 10-11Euro/person and during peak season (summer) it will be around 13Euro/person.
Where to eat in Brasov?
I’ve tried several restaurants in the city and near Brasov and I can recommend the following:
Brasov:
La Ceaun – very delicious traditional romanian food – must try when in Brasov!
Cupt’or – european & traditional food – very tasty as well
Roata Norocului – perfect if you are in a rush and you want to eat something good
Amfiteatrul Transilvaniei – all I can say is stunning views and delicious food + some lovely cats will keep you company inside the restaurant. Call for a reservation to be sure, as there is nothing around where you can eat. Tip: try the apple pie, best one i’ve ever had!
D.O.R. (Delicious Autentic Romanesc) – it’s a very instagrammable restaurant, we were there by day, but by night it’s even more beautiful.
I hope you enjoyed my blog post on things to do in Brasov and will guide you through your next adventure.
